Learning English in NewcastleThe Language Centre runs programmes which are designed for students about to enter degree courses in the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (or any other British university) as well as more general programmes for those who wish to experience English language and culture for a short period. If you are currently studying for a degree at Newcastle and need help with your English, click here. The following information will
tell you about Newcastle, the University and what to expect on an
English programme at the Language Centre. We recommend strongly, if you have not already done so in the last two years, to take an English language test as soon as possible. You can arrange to take the IELTS test, which is accepted by all British universities as evidence of your proficiency in English, in your own country. Please telephone your local British Council Office to obtain details of the next test. If it is impossible for you to take IELTS, a recent TOEFL score will be acceptable. Contact: The Language Centre
