Unlike many United Kingdom universities, Stirling is truly a campus university. It is located on the outskirts of the historic city of Stirling and next to the spa town of Bridge of Allan, both of which are in easy walking distance of the campus. The City of Stirling was the home of the kings and queens of Scotland and a great deal of the history of Scotland was forged in and around the Stirling area. Nowadays however, whilst it retains its historic apsects, it is a modern vibrant city with excellent shopping and leisure facilities.

The University is extremely proud of its prominent international student community and extends a warm welcome to students from all countries. Stirling has welcomed international students onto the campus for many years. Currently students from outside the United Kingdom represent about 13 percent of the student body, and in any single year there are generally around 80 nationalities represented on campus. The diversity of cultures and the range of backgrounds never fails to make a lasting impression on those who study here.
