Totnes European School offers a wide choice of ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSES that may be studied on their own, or combined with a WORK EXPERIENCE PLACEMENT.  Totnes European School has many years experience organising WORK EXPERIENCE and we are accredited for the University of Cambridge Work Experience Certificate.

Location

Totnes is situated in beautiful Devon countryside with access to beaches, rivers and Dartmoor National Park.  The cities of Exeter and Plymouth are within easy reach as is the seaside resort of Torbay.  London is normally less than 3 1/2 hours distance by train.  Our school is located in the centre of Totnes which is a small, friendly and safe town.  We have a population of just 8,000 people who welcome students from all nationalities.

English Courses

At Totnes European School our experienced teachers aim to make learning as interesting and enjoyable as possible.  There is a strong emphasis on communicative activities. Lessons include speaking and listening practice as well as reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
Small classes and a supportive atmosphere help students to gain confidence and to maximise their English Language skills.

General Information:

• Advice and guidance on all courses prior to enrolment

• Minimum age on all courses is 17 years

• Social programme includes one full day trip, one afternoon sports activity and a pub evening

• An opportunity to make friends and practise your English

• Free access to the internet and to a small library and video collection

• Discount for courses 8 weeks or more

There is a Registration fee of £60.00 for all courses             
There is a £15.00 refundable deposit (paid on first day) for the loan of course book

Work Experience

At Totnes European School our experienced staff can organise a work experience programme that is suitable for any individual or group.   Whatever the chosen vocation we can organise a work experience placement in the United Kingdom that will help the student to improve language capability and employment potential.  We will endeavour to find a placement that will suit the individual’s vocational or professional experience.

• English courses prior to the placement are available

• Monitoring and full support is offered throughout the placement
  Good quality placements organised in a variety of different sectors

• Students complete a portfolio of evidence which includes a diary, skills evaluation and company feedback

• Certified by Totnes European School or the University of Cambridge

Student Life

Life in a different culture can be a daunting experience for anyone and so staff at Totnes European School support students in all aspects of their life in the United Kingdom.   We encourage students to socialise in the local community and also with other international students.  From our experience students achieve more from their time here in the United Kingdom if they are happy and motivated throughout the programme.

Leonardo Da Vinci Programme

Totnes European School is very experienced in organising the European Union’s “Leonardo” Mobility Programmes.  These programmes are generally either 3 to 4 week Work Study programmes comprising of English Language training and a work based project assignment OR longer 12 to 13 week programmes comprising of 3 or 4 weeks English language training followed by an 8 or 9 week Career Training Placement in an appropriate organisation. 

The School is well versed in the requirements of these programmes and has run many successful programmes in cooperation with European partners. We understand the regulations, the funding and the administrative requirements.
