Community College of the Air Force (CCAF)

Alabama United States

The Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) serves the US Air Force and Department of Defense by helping enlisted personnel obtain an accredited Associate in Applied Science Degree. In so doing CCAF serves more than 378,000 students enrolled in more than 120 technical training schools and 66 degree programs. This makes CCAF the largest multicampus community college in the world, with an administrative center at Maxwell AFB and more than 7,500 faculty members and education service offices at locations around the globe. The hallmark of CCAF's success is not its size, however-but rather, its attention to the individual student and the quality and reputation of the degree.

Colonel Eric A. Ash, Commander of the Community College of the Air ForceDynamic communications and warfighting technologies demand critical thinking, teamwork and commitment by Air Force personnel. CCAF helps airmen meet these demands and achieve personal goals by realizing their educational potential. More than 207,000 enlisted members of the active duty Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve have earned CCAF career-related degrees since the college first opened in 1972.

Demands of the mission require sacrifice on the part of dedicated military personnel. Yet, CCAF capitalizes on job-related training and education to help provide opportunity for a college degree that airmen might not otherwise have. CCAF degrees are directly related to Air Force Specialty Codes and are designed to sharpen the leadership and management capabilities of the enlisted corps, thus enhancing their readiness.

How this comes about involves a very complex system requiring dedicated personnel at all levels of administration, counseling and teaching. The CCAF homepage contains information about these areas of operations, as well as degree programs and links to associated web sites concerning enlisted member education. More than 31 years strong, CCAF looks to the future and promises to continue serving the world's premier enlisted corps, one student at a time.
