Money Magazine and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance rank AU as top university in the state of Alabama for educational value. It is also known for its rocket science program, as six of its graduates are NASA astronauts, and two AU alumni were also the past directors for the Kennedy Space Center.
The sports teams of Auburn are nicknamed the ‘Tigers.’ Auburn's athletic teams compete in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), one of the most competitive athletic conferences in America.
