Study at East Los Angeles College Founded in 1945, East Los Angeles College, (ELAC), is a community college of the Los Angeles Community College District. It is located in the Los Angeles suburb of Monterey Park. This two year college offers many associate degree programs in over 25 fields of study.
ELAC features an instructional center, bookstore, cafeteria, library, sports stadium, auditorium and an indoor swim stadium. The official mascot of the athletic teams of ELAC is the Husky. They participate in various sports like baseball, volleyball, football, soccer, basketball, softball, badminton and wrestling.
Some of the notable alumni of ELAC are Antonio Villaraigosa, Mayor of Los Angeles; Leroy D. Baca, Sheriff of Los Angeles; and Gloria Molina, Los Angeles county supervisor.
