ELS Language Centers/Denver is located on the campus of Johnson & Wales University near downtown Denver and a short drive from the Rocky Mountains. World class skiing and snowboarding are available nearby in the winter months and whitewater rafting, camping, hicking and horseback riding are popular recreation in the warmer months. Trips to nearby ski resorts include Vail, Aspen, Telluride and Breckenridge. Denver itself is a multi-faceted city of shops, museums, sports attractions and restaurants. Johnson & Wales University offers generous scholarships to ELS graduates who matriculate.
ESL Program Introduction
The group Intensive English program (30 lessons per week) is divided into 12 levels from beginning to Masters levels. Each level takes approximately four weeks to complete. All language skills are taught including Reading/Writing in the afternoons. A group Semi-intensive program (20 lessons per week) is also available providing the same morning instruction as the Intensive English program but with afternoons free. Students at the intermediate and advanced levels in both programs may choose from a variety of special interest courses, such as TOEFL Preparation, Pronunciation, Current Events and Idiomatic English. More than 550 U.S. universities, colleges and career schools recognize completion of the ELS Intensive English program as satisfaction of their English language admissions requirement, in place of the TOEFL or other exam.
