Study at Bainbridge College Georgia

As the only comprehensive community college in southwest Georgia, Bainbridge College provides broad program offerings and emphasizes excellence in instruction. The campus is located on 173 acres covered with stately pines and moss-draped oaks. A non-residential, predominantly rural campus, Bainbridge College attracts students from 11 surrounding counties and several states and nations. The student body includes 1,315 students who are mostly working adults and first-generation college enrollees. Almost half attend full-time. Minority enrollment averages 33 percent, exceeding the System average, and women comprise about 60 percent of the student population. Nearly 40 percent of students range in age from 17 to 20.

Students pursue 16 associate of arts degrees designed for transfer to four-year institutions, as well as eight technical education degrees, nine one-year certificates, and 11 specialized certificates. In addition, the College offers continuing education courses; joint cooperative career programs with nearby Albany Technical College and Southwest Georgia Technical College; upper division and master's degree programs in business administration, criminal justice, and nursing through Valdosta State University and Albany State University; and distance learning courses.

Bainbridge College serves its diverse and growing student body through a variety of innovative and diverse instructional methods. Students can attend classes at the main campus, at off-campus sites, take courses online, and participate in Study Abroad programs. The working student is accommodated by flexible class scheduling and a fully staffed and equipped Learning Center incorporating peer tutorial programs, computer labs, and specialized workshops to help students improve their academic skills.

A variety of student organizations offer extracurricular activities, including the Student Government Association, the Creative Arts Club, the BC Ambassadors, and the honor societies of Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Beta Gamma, and Sigma Kappa Delta. Students have the opportunity to engage in community service projects and attend concerts, plays and field days. For the enjoyment of both students and the community, the campus features a greenhouse, swimming pool, tennis complex, outdoor stage, a nature trail with botanical identifications, and is the site of the Southwest Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center.

Bainbridge College's charter class began in 1973, making it one of the system's youngest institutions.
