Study for a Doctorate in Marriage and Family
Therapy at Argosy University Chicago Illinois
Doctorate in
Marriage and Family Therapy:
The Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy program
is a terminal degree designed for candidates seeking a
non-traditional doctorate. The focus of this degree is on clinical
and community-based practice which differentiates it from the Ph.D.
and makes it attractive to anyone who is seeking a practitioner
versus a research degree. The program provides opportunities for
advanced, cross-disciplinary study with couples, individuals and
families as well as larger systems of organizations and communities,
with emphases on systemic theory, practice and research.
Students will develop leadership skills in the areas of supervision
and teaching of systemic practice. Student-directed components in
the Concentration, Internship and Applied Clinical Project afford
students opportunities to pursue specific application of systemic
approaches. It will prepare graduates for careers as clinical
supervisors, graduate level teachers, private practitioners and
agency administrators.
