Western Illinois University
Founded in 1899, Western Illinois University, or WIU, is a public university in the United States. The main campus is located in Macomb, Illinois, whereas Western Illinois University - Quad Cities is in Moline, Illinois. The US News and World Report (2006 edition) ranked WIU 70th among all public masters universities and 24th among 70 public universities in the Midwest. WIU was also recognized by The Princeton Review (2004, 2005, and 2006 editions) as one of the “Best in the Midwest Colleges”. The university is organized into the following academic divisions:

The men's sports teams are nicknamed the Fighting Leathernecks and the women's sports teams are known as the Westerwinds.
