Study at Midwestern State University
Midwestern State University, also referred to as MSU, is a coeducational, public, liberal arts college located in Wichita Falls, Texas, United States. It is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. It was established in 1922 as Wichita Falls Junior College. It was renamed to Hardin Junior College in 1937 and moved to its present location. In 1946, it was renamed to Hardin College. In 1950, the name was changed to Midwestern University, and it gained state support eleven years later. In 1975, its name was finally changed to Midwestern State University. The University grants admission to approximately 6,500 students every year. Midwestern State University is organized into the following schools and colleges: MSU's sports teams are called the Midwestern State Mustangs. The official mascot is the Mustang. The University sponsors men's basketball, football, golf, soccer, and tennis. It also sponsors women's basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball. Midwestern State is located in Wichita Falls, TX (a small city). The school is a public institution. The highest degree level offered by Midwestern State is the Master's degree. Midwestern State SelectivityThe school does not offer open admission. Three quarters of students in 2007 had SAT verbal scores of at least 450. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 460 and 560. FacultyThe school has a tenure system for senior faculty.
