Study at Newman University
Newman University, also known as NU, was established in 1933, and is a coeducational Catholic institution of liberal arts located in Wichita, Kansas. The institution was initially known as Sacred Heart Junior College. It was rechristened the Newman University in 1998. Various bachelor’s, baccalaureates, and associate’s degrees are offered here. Students can also choose from the study abroad programs available at NU. The college is divided into the following academic divisions: Newman University's athletics department fields a large number of men's and women's sports teams. The teams are known as the Jets, and they compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Jets participate in baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, and golf, among other sports. Wichita, KS is home to Newman University. Wichita is a large city. Students select the school partly because it is a Roman Catholic school. Newman University is a private, not-for-profit institution. Degrees at the school go up to the Master's degree. Course TopicsThe range of program offerings available from Newman University is especially impressive compared to its number of students. Students commonly pursue studies in education and teaching and family and social work. Newman University SelectivityProspective students are advised that admissions are not open to all; the school selects from among qualified applicants. Three quarters of students in 2007 had SAT verbal scores of at least 400. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 450 and 570.
