Louisiana State University and Agricultural & Mechanical College, also known as LSU or Louisiana State University, is a co-ed university situated in Louisiana. LSU, established in 1860, has its main campus located on 650 acres upland on the river banks of the Mississippi. The campus boasts of over 250 principal buildings. The university has more than 1,000 full-time staff and serves nearly 30,000 students.
The official team of LSU is nicknamed the Fighting Tigers, and LSU Tigers football started in 1893. LSU is the only team to become the winner of two BCS National Championships. The university boasts of renowned alumni like basketball players, Pete Maravich and Shaquille O'Neal; and Democratic Party campaign manager Donna Brazile.
