Legal Studies:This program is open to those individuals who have already attained
an associate degree or higher and are seeking to change careers or to
individuals with at least three years' experience in a legal setting
looking for advancement to the position of paralegal. Certificate
students learn about general legal concepts and procedures through
twelve legal core courses and become knowledgeable about the duties
performed by paralegals in both general and specialized legal practices.
Students also have the opportunity to learn basic and advanced legal
research skills, making use of traditional legal research tools and the
Andover College Library's Westlaw and LoisLaw connections. Graduates of
this program may be eligible to sit for the Certified Legal Assistant (CLA)
exam, sponsored by the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).
