Study at Colby College
Colby College was originally established as the Maine Literary and Theological Institution in 1813. In 1821, it was renamed the Waterville College. It got its present name during the Civil War when Gardner Colby made a large donation to prevent the college from closing down. Colby College became a coeducational institute in 1871. It is located on a 714-acre campus in Waterville, Maine. Colby College's recent enrollments have been more than 1,500 students. Colby College offers more than 500 courses in over 50 disciplines. The academic divisions of the college include: The sports teams of Colby College are known as the Mules. They participate in alpine skiing, baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, ice hockey, track, tennis, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, squash, softball, and volleyball.
