Mary Baldwin College, also known as MBC, is a women’s college. It was founded in 1842 by Rufus William Bailey. It was initially known as the Augusta Female Seminary. The name of the institute was changed to Mary Baldwin Junior College in 1916. It became a four-year college and finally came to be known as the Mary Baldwin College in 1923. The campus is located in Staunton, Virginia. Mary Baldwin College offers certificates, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in subjects including business, marketing, teaching, and leadership studies, among others. Mary Baldwin College’s athletics teams are nicknamed the Squirrels. The students take part in sports including tennis, basketball, volleyball, softball, and soccer. The college also has several student-run organizations such as the American Chemical Society, Black Student Alliance, Circle K, and Campus Crusade.
