Study at Northern Michigan University

 

Northern Michigan University was founded in 1899. It is a 4-year public university situated in Marquette, Michigan. The university is set on nearly 350 acres of land. NMU has a population of more than 9,000 students. It is the largest university of the Upper Peninsula. The university has 5 academic divisions:

  • College of Arts and Sciences
  • College of Graduate Studies
  • College of Professional Studies
  • School of Art and Design
  • Walker L. Cisler College of Business

The athletics teams of the university are called the Wildcats. Old gold and olive green are the official colors of NMU. The university sponsors many sports including golf, hockey, football, basketball, cross country, soccer, track & field and volleyball. Steven Wiig, actor; Mike Santorelli, NHL hockey player; John Lautner, internationally famous modern architect; and Howard Schultz, CEO and Chairman of Starbucks, are the notable alumni of the university.
