Study at University of Detroit Mercy
University of Detroit Mercy is a co-educational Roman Catholic university located in Detroit, Michigan. It was officially established in 1990, but has roots dating back to 1877, when the Society of Jesus founded Detroit College. Detroit College later expanded and was renamed the University of Detroit. In 1941, the Sisters of Mercy founded the Mercy College of Detroit. In 1990, University of Detroit consolidated with the Mercy College of Detroit, forming the University of Detroit Mercy. The University now grants admission to over 5,000 students every year. The schools and colleges under the University of Detroit Mercy include: The university's sports teams are called the Titans. The official mascot of the University is Tommy Titan. Men's teams from UDM participate in basketball, cross country, fencing, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis and track & field.
