Study at Truman State University
Truman State University is a public, co-educational, liberal arts and sciences university located in Kirksville, Missouri. It was established in 1867 as the North Missouri Normal and Commercial School. Truman State University is organized in the following schools and colleges: The sports teams of Truman State University are known as the Bulldogs. The mascot of the university is Spike the Bulldog. Men's teams from TSU participate in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track & field and wrestling. Women take part in basketball, cross country, golf, softball, soccer, swimming, tennis, track & field and volleyball. Truman is found in Kirksville, MO. Kirksville is a self-contained town. The school is a public institution. Students can earn degrees up to and including the Master's degree at Truman. Course TopicsThe school is known for its programs in science, music, art studies, therapy and counseling, and nutrition and exercise therapy. Truman SelectivityAdmission to Truman is not automatic; not everyone who applies gets in. Three quarters of students in 2007 had SAT verbal scores of at least 570. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 560 and 670. FacultyTruman has a tenure system for senior faculty. Student EnrollmentStudents numbered 5,920 in 2007 at the school. Student LifeFull-time students are the norm at Truman. The school offers dorm rooms to a higher percentage of its students than do most colleges.
