Established in 1970, Akron Institute is part of the Herzing Educational System which operates over a dozen campuses in the US and Canada. Akron offers its students programs which lead to successful careers in the allied health, information technology, and administration fields. The Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). In addition, the school's medical assisting program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Programs are targeted to meet certification standards established by industry leaders, including the Ohio Dental Association and the American Association of Medical Assistants.

Akron Institute Admissions
The Akron Institute admissions process is a simple one. All high school graduates and individuals who have successfully completed their GED (General Educational Development) tests are eligible for admission. Prospective students must take a school tour prior to enrollment and submit to an interview by an admissions representative. For some programs, a physical examination, lab test and/or vaccination will be required upon enrollment. An enrollment fee of $25.00 completes the process.
