The school was founded in 1992 by a group of parents and businessmen interested in developing a high quality international school with a family atmosphere. DISV serves the needs of the international and local communities and it has grown to provide a comprehensive international education for children from age 3 to age 19. With around 420 students from almost 60 different nationalities, the school is able to provide a broad range of educational offerings whilst maintaining a high standard of individual care.

The Elementary School delivers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) curriculum. In Grades 6-10 the school is experienced in delivering the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) and in Grades 11 and 12 the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The school prepares students for university entry worldwide. The school is fully recognized by the Austrian Ministry of Education. The formal school day isfrom 08.15 to 15.05 and is then followed by a full and varied activities programme, that includes cultural and creative activities, community service, and sport. The culturally diverse, qualified and experienced faculty is drawn from 20 different countries.
