A non-profit PK-12 international school currently serving more than 520 foreign students from nearly 50 countries, IICS is the only international school in Istanbul fully authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) for all of its programs (Primary Years Program, Middle Years Program and Diploma Program). The school has two divisions: Primary School (PK-6th grade) and Secondary School (7th-12th grade). Class sizes typically range from 16-20 students. French is a required language from 1st through 6th grade. In the Secondary School French, German are offered as well as Spanish for beginners in Grades 11 and 12. The school offers Turkish Language and Culture in both Primary and Secondary. The staff is composed of carefully selected, highly qualified and experienced educators from 14 nations with the majority from the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, France and Turkey. The main facility is a purpose-built campus situated on 13.3 hectares (33.5 acres) of land 45 kilometers west of the city center. It features large classrooms, a well supplied and automated library with ten research computers, three science labs, three computer labs, a design technology lab, an indoor theatre and outdoor amphitheatre, two art studios, two music studios and practice rooms, a double gymnasium, a football/softball field, a running track, basketball and tennis courts, and a full service restaurant. Hisar, the historic campus for grades PK-3 overlooks the Rumeli Hisar Castle ramparts in the downtown Bosphorus-front neighborhood of Bebek. Nestled in a mature garden, it features a traditional villa surrounded by newly constructed classroom buildings.
